I'm here to tell you it’s not easy, but its possible.

Two years ago I was working overtime hours at a bakery. Every day I would come in, decorate cakes and cookies and provide customers with their sugary cravings. Even though this job was creative and fun, there were many monotonous tasks and over time I decided I wanted to do something that would prove to be more challenging.

Bet you can guess what happened.

I started learning programming in my free time as a hobby. Well, that hobby quickly turned into a much-wanted career. I would be daydreaming at my bakery shifts about the time running by so that I could rush home and learn something new.

Pretty soon I quit my job and started teaching myself programming full time. I quickly realized that if I wanted to ramp up quickly and land a job, I needed a bootcamp program to provide that quick acceleration. A couple weeks before the completion of the program I landed my first developer job in Denver, Colorado. Fast forward a year later…

At the end of 2019, I applied for the LEAP apprenticeship program at Microsoft and got in! Once the apprenticeship program ended, I was offered a full time position to continue working with the current team.
